The bottom of the Pacific Coast is littered with small beautiful species. The Tiger Rockfish is no exception. As a bottom dweller, this foot long red hued Rockfish is only occasionally caught by commercial harvesters. Since it is not a sporting fish, they can live to be centenarians! This one piece will be the only chance you have to hook one. Divers even have a hard time observing the signature dark bar pattern across their bright scales. These rockfish rarely come out during the daylight hours, spending their time in the rocky crevices of the coast.
No member of Frankie Anne III’s crew has seen a Tiger Rockfish in its natural Pacific Coast habitat. These sneaky little perches don’t like to come out during the day. Our resident diver Professor Vanderpoof says he tried to take an underwater photo at night. This fishing Romper does not show a depiction of that photograph! If it did, all that would be pictured would be a flashbulb. On this Gill McFinn Romper, we show the red hued beauty… as observed from the Seattle Aquarium!
